LOS ANGELES, CA -- April 16, 2007 -- The winners of the 2007 Life Science Industry Awards were announced today on a conference call hosted by The Scientist, magazine of the life sciences, in conjunction with BioInformatics, LLC. Executives from across the industry participated in the call, which honored "best-in-class" companies in the life sciences.

Over 3,000 scientists from around the world were independently surveyed by leading market research firm BioInformatics, LLC. The thousands of participating scientists cast their votes for the companies that have made the greatest contributions to life science technology in the past year. As a result, the awards recognize those suppliers voted "best-in-class" in each of the 14 product categories, and six communications and support categories. Although more than 500 individual companies were nominated, only 28 achieved the status of Finalist and from this group 11 were named Winners.

"The Scientist is proud to recognize the contributions of these companies to the life science research community," says The Scientist''s Editor and Publisher Richard Gallagher. "This year''s finalists and winners provide a remarkable set of products and services to the industry. That they were selected by the scientists they serve as the best in their fields should be very rewarding to them."

The response to this year''s awards is evidence of The Scientist''s unparalleled reach into the life science community. With over 64,000 print subscribers and more than 400,000 monthly visitors to its website, The Scientist''s unique blend of authoritative editorial content has attracted a loyal following among life scientists around the world. The bond between The Scientist and its readers translated into a real interest in recognizing those companies upon whose products they rely. Scientists value the magazine''s news on cutting-edge events, notable discoveries, career issues, and laboratory products. Because this content is directly relevant to life in the lab, readers of The Scientist are especially attuned to the important role that suppliers play in the success of their research and take an active interest in the products and technologies highlighted in each issue.

BioInformatics, LLC, the premier market research firm serving the life science industry, again supplied their specialized expertise to this year''s voting. From a thorough assessment of the award categories to development of a questionnaire that measures satisfaction and loyalty in addition to asking for "top of mind" assessments of best-in-class suppliers, the methodology created by BioInformatics, LLC precisely identifies the best suppliers in the industry.

"These awards matter because thousands of scientists from around the world took time away from their important work to tell us which companies they consider to be best-in-class," says Bill Kelly, President of BioInformatics, LLC. "In the hands of these dedicated scientists, our clients'' products are driving forward a revolution in science that''s changing our understanding of life itself."

The scientists invited to nominate suppliers in each product category were drawn from the readership of The Scientist magazine and The Science Advisory Board, the world''s largest online panel of scientific consumers. BioInformatics, LLC ensured that the responses received accurately reflected the demographics of the overall market in terms of geographic region and segmentation. The results were analyzed not only by the frequency with which a company was nominated, but also in terms of a numerical score derived from the satisfaction and loyalty questions. The combined value was then used to select the 28 Finalists honored by this year''s Life Science Industry Awards.
